More information about SARTOR RESARTUS by Thomas Carlyle Antique Book

Sartor Resartus:The Life and Opinions of Herr Teufelsdröckh by Thomas Carlyle. Published by The Rodger’s Company- Undated. Measures approximately 4.25in x 6in.
The book is in incredibly good condition. The cover shows some edgewear and bumped corners. It is a philosophical novel written by Thomas Carlyle, originally published in serial form in 1833-1834 in Fraser's Magazine. It was later published as a book in 1836. The title translates to "The Tailor Retailored".
The novel is presented as a fictional editor's retelling of the theories of a fictional German professor, Diogenes Teufelsdröckh, whose philosophy centers around the Philosophy of Clothes arguing that human institutions and morals are merely "clothes" that conceal our true nature.
Sartor Resartus is considered a significant work of the Romantic movement and Victorian culture. It has influenced writers such as Virginia Woolf and James Joyce. The novel is known for its rare style, mixing humor, satire, and philosophical inquiry.
