Japanese Meiji Teapot VTG Hand Painted, Sometsuke Blue & White, w Strainer
Sometsuke/ Blue & White, Japanese teapot of the Meiji period with typical Meiji design motifs in Sometsuke blue brush strokes, antique/ vintage. Japanese made porcelain teapot, Arita Ware/ Imari Ware crafter in the Japanese Sometsuke Seto underglaze pattern of the original cobalt blue on the contrasting white. The teapot has a very lovely feel, the finish on the Sometsuke teapot is fine, making the look and feel ultra smooth, and a beautiful clear glaze all over the outside of the teapot, except for the bottom of the pot. There is a nice feel of glaze on the inside of the teapot too, except for on the removable ceramic strainer. The hand painted designs of Meiji /Sometsuke are crisp and create a botanical garden like setting, and the vessel is quite Lightweight which also matches up with the feel of the Sometsuke design and experience.
